Tradition

Periodical, RCA, published quarterly

Tradition is one of the most well-known English-language Torah periodicals; it has been around since the 60s. It contains a wide range of articles, mostly scholarly but some inspirational, as well as book reviews, communications and other interesting bits and pieces. A fairly new and exciting development is the digital revolution. Selected articles from the current and previous recent editions are available on-line at the RCA website. However, only as small selection of back articles are retrievable this way. For $60, however, one can purchase an archive CD with the complete contents of Tradition from its inception to 2000. (I have this, for those who are interested). The edition I have in hand as I write this is the summer 2001 number. It’s articles are representative of this excellent periodical – a critique of lavish functions, a couple of essays on contemporary Jewish life by prominent modern Orthodox thinkers, as well as some serious halachic material by the great Rabbi J.D. Bleich.
